What is an energy performance certificate?

Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) tell you how energy efficient a home is on a scale of
A-G. The most efficient homes - which should have the lowest fuel bills - are in band A.

energy performance certificateThe Certificate also tells you, on a scale of A-G, the impact the home has on the environment. Better-rated homes will have a smaller impact through less carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The average property in the UK is in bands D-E for both ratings.

The Certificate includes recommendations on ways to improve the home’s energy efficiency to save money and to help improve the environment. The purpose of the EPC is to show prospective  purchasers and tenants the energy performance of the dwelling they are considering renting.

As a result of legislation, whether selling or renting a home, you will require an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).  Hegarty’s Estate Agents have their own domestic energy assessor capable of producing EPC’s quickly and efficiently.  EPC’s are available to vendors (whether selling through Hegarty’s or not), and residential landlords.
